I have a thought on suggestions for improvements to StockCharts.com website. I know I make inquiries to StockCharts.com Support suggesting changes/ improvements for their consideration. I'm sure others do as well. If they get enough interest (multiple requests) or it falls into something that they are planning on doing already, it seems to get done.

My suggestion is that "we" also post those suggestions on this forum (after having sent it to Support). If you see a suggestion that you like, you can make a similar request to StockCharts Support. This would allow for multiple requests for a similar suggestion, possibly improving the chances that it can be implemented.

Anyway, just a thought.

I sent this one in earlier. I'll be sure to share my others in the future.

When using the "Inspect" feature, it would be nice if the font was black or blue or anything darker than light gray. It would also be nice if the font size was bigger but, darker font would be a tremendous, readable solution.

Thank you for your consideration of this suggestion.

Is it possible to PnF plot a symbol divided by another symbol using stockcharts?

If that's possible are other math functions also possible such as addition? Can we divide a symbol by multiple symbols and PnF plot that?
For example: AAPL / (NVDA + INTC + AMZN + etc.)

On a PerfChart, is there a way to plot the logarithm of a stock symbol?

I tried log(VTI), ln(VTI), log10(VTI), etc., but none of those work.

If this is not currently a feature, then how would I go about requesting this from the developers?

A logarithmic view can be especially helpful for visualizing long investment time series where the exponential growth becomes more obvious, and the absolute price swings at the start of the record represent much larger fractional changes than at the end of the record.

A log() capability would also be very useful when plotting multiple symbols. For example, comparing log(VTI) to log(VXF) would display a log-plot of their relative performance ratio, since the "difference of logs" equals the "log of the ratio". This could effectively generate a classic Bogle-type "telltale chart," which compares the ratio of cumulative performance between two investments. This is much easier to interpret than the current PerfChart "relative performance" comparisons, which (when one clicks on a symbol) actually simply subtract that symbol from the others. This can easily lead one to misinterpret trends in relative performance, e.g. https://scan.stockcharts.com/discussion/comment/6297#Comment_6297.

For TD Ameritrade account holders, notices have been going out to inform them of their accounts being transfered to the Schwab platform. They intend to do this in a 4 batches over the next several months. The 1st group was moved over President's Day weekend. The next group is moving over the Memorial Day weekend. and rumor has it the 4th of July is another batch.

If you are being moved, you already received notification and were given the opportunity to customize your setup on Schwab prior. This group will include SOME ThinkorSwim users. The message looks like this:

You're receiving this message because you're moving to Schwab soon—and you recently logged in to or traded on thinkorswim. We wanted to let you know that thinkorswim desktop, web, and mobile will not be available at Schwab until later in 2023. But in the meantime, there are trading platforms at Schwab you can use.

Here are some key things to know

Once your move to Schwab is complete, you'll be able to access your account and trade on Schwab.com and the Schwab Mobile app. To help you get familiar with this intuitive online trading experience, check out these handy how-to guides.

You've been automatically enrolled for early access to thinkorswim so that you'll be one of the first clients to enjoy the platform suite at Schwab. We will notify you when thinkorswim is available for use at Schwab.

Our goal is to make your move to Schwab as seamless and simple as possible. And even though you won't have immediate access to thinkorswim at Schwab, you'll have access to Schwab.com and the Schwab Mobile app so that you can take on the market with confidence.

If you have any specific questions about thinkorswim, feel free to call us at 800-454-9272, and we'll be happy to help.

ToS is not currently available on Schwab but they do have plans to make it available on their platform "later in 2023". According to press reports, Schwab plans to "integrate" ThinkOrSwim, TD Ameritrade's popular online trading platform long used by traders, into its own tools for both retail and independent advisors. The plan was confirmed to Investor's Business Daily by Schwab spokeswoman Alison Wertheim.

"For users of Schwab's StreetSmart Edge platforms, there is no change," Metzger said. "As we look ahead, we intend to thoughtfully combine the great capabilities, tools and service at both firms to provide a unified, world-class trading experience for clients."

So upon migration, you will lose access to the ToS platform for an undetermined length of time.

This is just a PSA. I haven't received my notice yet, but am sharing this information from the usethinkscript forum. Thinkscript is the programming tool you can customize charts and setting and strategies on ThinkorSwim. It's really incredible the things you can do to customize your environment on ToS.

On his recent StockCharts TV show, Grayson Rose talked about Seasonality Charts. It was a very good presentation but one thing he said about them isn't accurate and a common misconception.

At the bottom of the Seasonality Chart there is a slider with a number in it. It defaults to 5 but you can drag the edge of the slider to increase or decrease the number showing. The number showing is Calendar periods in years. You can also move the slider to look at different periods.

Looking at a seasonality chart today, with a default of 5, you may think you are looking at 5 years of data. You are really looking at 4 full years of data plus the current YTD for the chart.

So your January seasonality will include 5 years of data, but your March and onward is only reflecting 4 complete years. If you want to see 5 complete years, you need to show 6 on the Seasonality slider.

Otherwise, it was a very good presentation on, what I consider, a valuable resource on StockCharts.com

If the index starts falling now but the stock prices almost remain untouched then the stock's strength and momentum would go above 100 and it will probably move to leading quadrant .This move on the RRG has come without any corresponding major price move . On the same lines if the index and stock both starts falling and eventually fall in the index becomes much more than the stock then on RRG will it show as increase in the relative strength and momentum for the stock ? This will be increase in the RS and momentum while the stock price is actually falling . Can u pls clarify on this

Hi Folks...is there already a procedure for setting up a 4 window template (mo/wk/day/hr) and then scroll through it with the results of any scan so that the windows and indicators stay the same for each new stock in the scan?
I have even forgotten how to set up the 4 window template in ACP.... :(
Thank you kindly..

I want to run a scan, move through the scan results, and see each symbol in a daily, weekly, and monthly chart. I created a 3 chart layout and saved it. When I move through the scan results, it shows me a different symbol on each chart instead of the same symbol in each chart. I clicked the synch button, the synch box etc. Still does it. Any fix or should I just save the results in a .csv and load it up in Tradingview where doing this is easy?

for example, how do you set up an alert for amzn:xly? if amzn:xly is over xxxx, then i can get an alert. i tried to use price alert, but the price alert only allows for one ticker, not for comparing two tickers. then i tried advanced alert, but i got lost trying to navigate the advanced alert section. Thanks a lot!!

I have been wondering something for quite a while. I'm not very articulate so this may be a bit confusing. When writing a scan does (1 Week ago) mean exactly the same thing as (Last Week)? I wonder if ( Last Week) might mean the close on last Friday while (1 Week Ago) might mean 5 days ago instead. So, if I ask my scan to pick from Last week, it will chose stocks that meet my criteria as of the close on last Friday. But, if I ask my scan to pick from 1 Week Ago, it might choose stocks from 5 days ago instead? If I run my scan on Wednesday asking for last week, does it use last Friday's close, but if I ask my scan to chose from 1 week ago, it does it use last Wednesday instead?
