Different time frame charts

Is it possible to create horizontal lines (S& R) and then convert the chart to a lower TF chart without losing the lines? Example; Can I create an hourly chart with support and resistance lines and then convert it into an 5 minute chart and keep the lines? So far, I have lost the lines when I change the setting from hourly to 5 minutes.

Frustration with 1000 stock limit in chartlists

So I started actively investing in 2020 along with the pandemic, and discovered Stockcharts through Chris Ciovacco's guest videos he did for them, and David Keller's super helpful information on The Final Bar. I've learned a lot and now do swing trading in 25% of my account, and have the rest managed by a money manager.

My problem is that it's easy to manage a lot of stock tickers in a single chartlist, setting numbers in front of the names so I can organize them into things I own, things one of my mentors owns, things I want to check every day, etc. BUT, since I can only have 999 stocks in the chartlist, there are things I'd like to keep tabs on (mainly things I have traded in the past and still want to run scans on), but I have to delete tickers to make room for new ideas suggested by a couple channels I follow. I sometimes find a move I missed because I had to remove it from my main chartlist.

I know, we should all be like Grayson Roze and have everything super organized into 25 different chartlists. The big problem is how hard it is to move a stock from one chartlist to another one.

Seemingly, the "best" way to move a stock from one list to another is to click the current chartlist at the top of the screen, click Edit, wait for the huge page to load, find the stock, add a check to the item, and use the two arrows to move the stock to another chartlist. This takes several seconds and is way slower than the excellent method used in TradingView (right click the ticker, turn off one watchlist, turn on another, to move from one watchlist to another).

My question is, is there a better way to move a stock I'm looking at currently to another chartlist other than this method? Am I the only one who finds it much easier to manage things from a single chartlist rather than maintain several?

This limitation honestly has me wanting to move to another platform…

New SharpCharts Workbench

On the New SharpCharts Workbench, in the upper right there are two icons. One (the Gears) to change your chart alignment in the workbench. The other ( a Question Mark) gives you direct links to various things. The Question Mark has several options. The Contact Us is a link to the Tech Support Request page. The Report An Issue is a link to the Tech Support Request page. The Share Your Feedback is a link to the WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU page. The Support Center is a link where it really gets fun. For those that find the Search on the main site to be lacking, or severely lacking, they have moved the AI-driven Search feature inside the Support Center. Use the Search at the top of this page. If defaults with the standard Search, and then it pops up the Find the Answer with AI option. The standard search still plays dumb. The AI search at least provides some information. It's nice to have these options inside the workbench.

Tips, Tricks and undocumented feature for StockCharts.com

There are a bunch of tips and tricks and undocumented features shared on this forum over the decades. Most are buried in the threads of various other topics, but we haven't a place that stored any of it in it's own thread. So, similar to the Suggestions to StockCharts thread, where we can share our suggestions we made to StockCharts.com for enhancements / improvements, maybe this tread will be a place to share things we do to customize our StockCharts experiences. I'll start. I use the Full Stochastic on my time based charts. I use the Full as its versatility allows you to have it replicate the Fast or the Slow Stochastic simply by changing the parameters. A 14,3,3 Full equals a 14,3 Slow. A 14,1,3 Full equals a 14,3 Fast. The Stochastic is made up of a %K line and a %D line. The %D line (the last number in the parameters) is the simple moving average of the %K line. George Lane, credited with creating the stochastic indicator, paid attention to the %D at some point in his long and illustrious career. Tips and Tricks: There are ways to modify the look of the Stochastics on your charts by adding overlays to the indicator. The Standard or Default view is fine, but you may want to focus your attention or make it easier to see levels or occurances that are important to YOU. I try to help myself by making what I want to see, POP off the screen. 4 examples below You can Highlight the line of interest (%K or %D) by placing a SMA Envelope overlay on the Stochastic. To highlight the %K use a SMA Env with a parameter of 1,1.5 for example. This will put a thicker outline on the %K line. To highlight the %D use a SMA Envelope overlay on the Stochasic with a parameter of the last parameter number of your Stochastic. Example: SMA Env parameter 3,1.5. This will put a thicker outline on the %D line. The 1.5 in the parameter is the distance from the SMA, so a 1,1.5 puts a line 1.5% above and below the SMA to create the Envelope. The lower panel has Horizontal Line overlay on the Stochastic. The parameter on that one is 10:red,15:red,33:cyan,35:blue,49:red,50.65:red,63:cyan,65:blue,75:lime,76:green,20:white,80:white I look at that like a hockey rink. Starting at the bottom at my goal line, until I move past my Blue Line, I'm on Defense. As I move past my Blue Line I transition to Offense by crossing the Red Line and am definitely on Offense when I cross the opponents Blue Line. You can create multiple colored lines using the number colon color comma number colon color technique in the parameter field. The default lines on the Stochastic are 20,50,80. I "hide" those lines by making the 20 and 80 white.

Creating a "Wish List" of improvements I'd love to see Stockcharts do

I've been a Stockcharts.com customer since 2020, and I've been very impressed with the improvements they've added for their users over the years. I've been compiling a short list of things I'd really love them to fix going forward. So far I have: a) would love customization. If I want to focus on certain factors, there's no way to make them stand out in different colors or specify what I want on my charts. Relatedly, I'd like an "edit layout" feature so I can put the ticker on the right side of the screen. I trade with a 55" TV, and turning my head to the left to see the ticker, then to the right to see the current bar, gives me whiplash! b) The more I watch people using other chart systems, the more I feel the annotate needs (another) overhaul. I should be able to hit a key on the keyboard, and the chart would know I want to draw an arrow, then hit another key, now I want to draw a box. Also, there's a frustrating bug whereby I have to click the "select" arrow, wait a second, then click it again if I want the select arrow to actually be selected. c) I love viewing charts in Chartbook form. Why is there no way to change the sort, like sort by RSI high to low, or anything like that? Got anything to add to my list? I will send them to the staff, and also to Dave Keller.

ACP Charting

In the ACP charts, the Elder Impulse figure defaults always to "thin" which is difficult to read on the chart. I always have to go back in and change the symbol thickness to thick to make it readable. Can you change the program to make the thick symbol as the default ?

The Single Biggest Bug In SharpCharts

So the biggest, most frustrating bug that Stockcharts has is, when using the Annotate tool in Sharpcharts, I have to click the tool at least twice, and sometimes three times, to get it to select the tool I need. Is this only happening for me? I verified that it happens with Chrome and Safari on a fully updated M4 Macbook Pro. Basically I hit Annotate, click the tool selector for trendlines, click Horizontal line, try to draw a horizontal line, curse because it either did nothing or drew a trendline, then I select it again and it works the second time. What's the best way to get Stockcharts to actually take action about this? I've sent bug reports before but not felt they were appreciated. Maybe send it to David Keller?

How can I set my default for Chartbook style?

Hi, I'm a heavy user of Stockcharts and view scanned stocks from an automatically saved chartlist. I made some change to my default chart, and suddenly, all newly saved charts in my chartlist are opening to this ugly default rather than the excellent one that I've set up. I've got my desired layout (the one at the bottom of this post). I've verified that my desired chart is saved as default and flagged as default, and doing a new stock search brings up the charts using that as expected. But scans saved to a chartlist open in the lame above default when clicked, and Chartbook viewing also uses the lame default. How can I force all charts to always use my desired default chartview, without manually selecting them all and using the paintbrush to change formats?

How to change my candle colors?

Hi, I've long wondered at the Hollow, Red and Black bars, and still don't understand it properly after trying several times to get it. But it doesn't matter, because the person I follow on Youtube (Blue Cloud Trading) uses standard (no hollow) candles, and I want to match that. On the SNCY chart on Jan 22, Stockcharts showed me a nice black bar that indicated a 1.62% move up. But on the chart my Youtube sense is using, it shows a red candle for the same day. I'm trying to understand why, and how I can match his so we're looking at the same charts, if that's a good idea. He is using TC2000 on Windows. If he's seeing red candles that tell him to sell, and I'm seeing healthy black candles with the same data, it's quite frustrating.

Question on Scan Bug? (ADX)

Hello, wonderful group. I have been trying to get a scanning script going that is causing frustration. I am trying to scan for stocks with Chaikin money flow that's higher today than 4 days ago, with an ADX line (the black line) that's risen over the past three days. [group is SP500] and // all S&P 5000 [today's CMF(20) > 4 days ago CMF(20) ] and // was 2 [today's daily ADX Line(9) > yesterday's adx line(9) ] and [yesterday's daily adx line(9) > 2 days ago daily adx line(9)] Running this script gives me a bunch of results that don't follow the logic, for example these https://stockcharts.com/sc3/ui/?s=EL https://stockcharts.com/sc3/ui/?s=FMC https://stockcharts.com/sc3/ui/?s=PHM All of these have an ADX line that's flat or rising. Am I making erroneous assumptions about how to do a scan for rising ADX?

I used to avoid anything that was anywhere near ER, but recently I've been doing half way decent by trading tickers that do certain things before earnings and playing the pops....But I've noticed that Stock Charts will list certain ER dates, but other places online will say those are just estimates based on other times in the past....Since I've only recently started paying close attention to ER, can I ask you guys that might know, how accurate are the ER dates listed at SC, in your experience?

Too many clicks ......... Too many bugs ......... Too many inefficiencies ..... a) chart update button is at bottom, need to continually click down to it from the chart b) settings don't stick - example, chart styles, chart lists (personal or general) c) save chart is hidden - need to right click in the chart d) return to dashboard is hidden - need to click on the /// top right e) make chart changes, need to hit apply f) I hate that green "saved successfully" notice always popping up g) "leave" notice pops up asking to stay or leave This is basic screen maneuvering .... I would have hoped this was worked out in beta testing. I can only imagine how GOOD this SharpCharts would be now, if they took all that programming time spent on ACP (and little used features like options, etc.) and devoted it here ....
