RANGE 'END' distructs
END reverts later from 'today' to the day the chart was orginally set up. Is this me or the system? A fix?

I think you are referring to the "Select start/end" option under Range in Chart Attributes.
The fix is @gord 's answer to this question
scan.stockcharts.com/discussion/827/the-today-selection-for-timeframe#latest
which was
"Just pick the range you need, say 6 months, then when the fields pop up you can then modify it to say 6 months 3 days, whatever you need. The right hand side of the chart will always be the lastest trading day."
